so, in summary, this is a new beginning

New website, same me.

I’ve been blogging for years and years, and it’s really weird to think about how much time I spent writing posts that aren’t out there on the internet anymore. But I’ve switched platforms a handful of times, and now we’re here!

If you’re reading this in the future, it’s spring of 2020, so we’re right in the middle of the covid-19 pandemic.

In the last two months, my last semester of college made the transition to online learning, I got very sick (not coronavirus, I got tested!) and my dad had to come drive me home from school, and I graduated from Berklee College of Music from my couch.

Over winter break, me and my parents made a plan for me to stay in Boston for next year to pursue being an artist in Boston. At the time, it wasn’t hard to imagine myself finding a part time job and performing at coffee shops and open mics around the city. Now, I’m sitting in a blank slate of a room in the suburbs of Chicago in the basement of my parents’ house, coming to terms with the fact that I’m almost certainly going to have to move home for the foreseeable future.

This is the start of a new chapter of my life, and I’m so excited despite the fact that I don’t know what the world’s going to look like next week, month, or year.

I’m diving into writing and recording my music, working on the novel I’ve been writing, and making content for my blog and YouTube channel. In this time when it’s so hard to connect to people in person, I’m reaching out through music and this blog and my YouTube channel, and my Instagram (which you should totally follow if you want to see waaaay too many stories featuring my cat).

Hopefully when we get to the other side of this I can find a place that feels as much like home as my apartment in Boston, which I’m probably going to have to say goodbye to. Hopefully, in the meantime, I can find a place in this little corner of the internet to connect to people.

I’m sad for the endings that I’m going through right now, but the beginnings are almost as exciting.

xx
